An Empath’s Guide to Dating and Relationships: Part 2

A few years ago, I wrote “An Empath’s Guide to Dating and Relationships”. It has been by far our most popular blog. What I have learned from this is that love is really universal and so is energy. People from all over the world are experiencing the same things regarding love and relationship. This applies whether it is a parent, a sibling, co-workers or a romantic partner. As an empath, you are so sensitive to energy shifts from people, places, things and world events. Here are some answers to the most common questions over the years and some additional information.

One of the most common things I know I have experienced, as well as others, is this ping pong effect that can happen with someone you are really close with, especially a partner. Let’s say that your partner is going through an incredibly challenging time. As a result, they shut down emotionally and it is like a stone wall barrier. Although the situation has nothing to do with you personally, you feel the energy of the situation very strongly. It is very common that you may pick up the other person’s emotions of sadness, anxiety, frustration, loneliness, depression and more. Many times you may think that it is you feeling that way when, in fact, it is the other person. Then what can happen when you are both really close like a husband or wife, or in a romantic relationship, and both of you are sensitive to energy the energy can bounce back and forth from each of you, creating the ping pong effect. You may feel helpless in this type of situation, or feel like you are going crazy, or not know what to do at all. Honestly, the best thing you can do is to center your energy and ground yourself. By you doing this, you will also impact the other person’s energy and help them ground and center their own energy without even realizing it. It can help a couple out of that ping pong feeling and allow those feelings of anxiety, depression etc. to shift into peace, happiness and feelings of living in the present. You can review some information about centering and grounding in part one which you can read here: https://elysianlifedesign.wordpress.com/2015/02/01/an-empaths-guide-to-dating-and-relationships/

Last year, I wrote a book called “Spiritual Grounding and More: A Reference Guide & Manual” It has four difference grounding techniques plus an additional one for after travel. It also has a lot of extra tools such as protecting your energy, clearing your chakras, and more. If you want more information or to download a copy of the e-book version click here:

https://www.etsy.com/listing/246931027/spiritual-grounding-more-a-manual-and?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=spiritual%20grounding&ref=sr_gallery_2

Another common question, has been about someone being an empath in a relationship. Sometimes past issues come up for them causing fear and panic. This causes them to abruptly walk away from the relationship even though they care about the other person. This can be a really hard thing to deal with. I know I myself have dealt with these feeling in a relationship. We all have things called triggers, and it is very common for those triggers to carry on from one relationship to another, even unintentionally. Honestly, you may not even know you have a trigger about something until you start a new relationship. The most common one I have come across has been around communication. Let’s say that you were in a past relationship with someone who kept things from you and lied with the intention of misleading your or hurting you, such as cheating or manipulation. I spent most of my college years in just that scenario. Then, you meet a great person and you are like “yes, this is it”. You start a new relationship and a few months in you start to notice that they are quite or you feel maybe they are being secretive about stuff. Because of your past experience with this emotion, your ego will automatically make you think that the same thing is happening again.  Now there can be many reasons why someone is acting secretive that don’t involve cheating. Perhaps they are dealing with something personal with which they don’t want to burden you. Or, maybe the new relationship is bringing up a trigger for them as well and they are trying to work through it without you thinking they have lost their mind. They may even be having issues with self- worth or feelings of they don’t deserve you. These are very common feelings for an Empath to feel. The best way to avoid a breaking point where someone walks away is to talk about it and be honest about your feelings. This will be a challenge for some as having talks about your feelings can make you feel vulnerable and sometimes you don’t understand your feelings or know how to describe them. You will want to do a few things before asking the other person if “you can talk”. First you will want to make sure you are grounded and your energy is protected before having that kind of conversation. Next, make sure you both have a full stomach, because, let’s face it when someone is hungry, the energy of angry and annoyance can escalate emotions. Also, if you know you need to have one of these kinds of talks, ask the Universe to show you the right time to do so. Then keep yourself open so you see when they tell you the right time is. Also, you don’t want to have this type of conversation when either of you is tired, angry or frustrated about another situation. And, when you speak to the person, it is important not to play the blame game or say things below the belt or make someone feel ashamed of their feelings. That is the fastest way to get an Empath to walk away. Be completely honest with the other person and maybe even share things about yourself and allow yourself to feel vulnerable. This will help open the lines of communication. In my case, I make sure I am grounded and that my partner and I are fed and relaxed. When I feel the time is right, I work certain topics into the conversation. The two Archangels I highly suggest working with in this situation are Archangel Gabriel, who is the Archangel of communication, and Archangel Raguel, who can help with fairness and resolving disagreements.

Another popular question that comes up is what is my biggest recommendation for an Empath? I can’t stress enough the impact that daily affirmations can have on your life as an Empath.  It will help you stay in the moment, focus on yourself, and allow you to be in your own energy instead of feeling everyone else’s. Also another tip is to ask to be disconnected from the mass consciousness before you go to sleep. This will help your mind and body heal while you sleep and allow you to actually sleep better because your mind won’t be racing about things you saw on social media or TV.

Stones and Crystals are also great for an Empath. You can place them under your pillow while you sleep, carry them in your pocket or purse throughout the day, or ladies can even wear them in their bra. Here is a great site where you can read all about Stones and crystals for Emapths and how they can help: http://www.crystalrockstar.com/crystals-for-empaths/#.WJBXEfkrLIU. I personally happen to love Lepidolite.

Being an Empath is nothing to be afraid or embarrassed of. We are living in a time unlike any other on earth. People are becoming more aware of spirituality. As a whole, we are raising our vibrations as a culture even if it doesn’t feel that way. We are also inundated, like never before, with information and news. If you are an Empath just be aware that you are impacted by these things, especially images you see on television. Our eyes cannot make the distinction between something on television and something that is happening right in front of us. So, when the message gets up to our brain, our mind and body then react accordingly. This may even activate or fight or flight responses which can wreak havoc on our health. Above all love yourself through the process. The more self-love you have the more love…relationships overall.  You will feel more confident in your interactions with people.  The world needs Empaths right now. I hope you found some good tools to help you along the journey. If you have additional questions, or want some help with a certain situation, feel free to email us here: contact@elysianld.com

Healing: The Power of Prayer & Where to start

39a95572-9d38-49de-87e4-842eac267f7aWe have all been on quite the healing journey. I know personally, a lot of past issues have made my own healing process more challenging. Being a believer in faith and in the power of prayer means not having to understand and almost having blind faith about your life. How it that, for example, we could go our entire is lives without seeing an elephant and still know they exist?  Many people cannot wrap their heads around the concept of knowing something exists without ever seeing it. Isn’t that the base core of faith? It can be difficult as it’s easy to get frustrated and see other people getting better while you feel you are stuck in this never ending process. Someone once told me, “the harder the process, the greater the purpose.” Along my own process, I have been desperate and seeking a miracle. If I could have, I would have gone to some remote island and drunk the water if someone told me it would help. I’ve watched online ministers and thrown my hands in the air believing with all my heart.

Recently, I had an amazing opportunity to see The Ancient Crystal Skull “Synergy” & caretaker Sherry Whitefield. I was introduced to crystal skulls about two years ago and then soon started my own little collection. I have to be honest; years ago I did not really understand what skulls were all about and what they represented. Skulls are actually incredible spiritual tools, and it would be through this experience I would learn just how much. Synergy is known as the skull of Joy, Laughter & Compassion. Synergy’s energetic frequency is so strong, that it can be felt over 40 miles away. If one person raises their vibration, that same person can impact 10,000 other people to raise their vibrations and so on. A few things the skull lets you do is leave behind, your fears, worry etc, so you can than expand to who you are meant to be. An experience with Synergy and Sherry is really a life changing experience where I have personally experienced deep impactful healing. For more information about The Ancient Crystal Skull Synergy and its keeper Sherry please visit their website http://www.crystal-skull.com/.  I fully believe that all you need to do to pray is speak from the heart and God will listen. I have often searched for healing prayers of all kinds and recently I came across the one below from inspirational author Rebecca Barlow Jordan. There was something about it, where suddenly it was all the words that were in my heart but could not express. I hope you enjoy it as well and find comfort in its words. Close your eyes, and let the prayer heal what you desire and raise your vibration so you can then go and make the impact Sherry and Synergy talks about.

“God, you know me so well. You created me. You know the number of hairs on my head, and you even know the thoughts conceived in my heart before I ever vocalize them. You’ve told us to come to you and ask for every need of life. You are Jehovah-Rapha, the God who heals, and you have the final word on my destiny, the number of years I’ll live and serve you on earth.

I’m coming to you today as your child, longing to hear from you and asking for your divine healing. There’s so much I don’t understand about life. But I do know that with one touch, one word, you can make me whole. Please forgive me of my sins, cleanse me of my unrighteousness, and begin your healing from the inside out.

I don’t always know what your will is Lord, especially in times like now, when I desperately seek your face. I offer you no promises, no bargains, no deals to exchange for my health. I simply bow my heart before you to tell you the desire of my heart: that I want to spend as many years as I can loving you here, loving others, and wanting to become more like you. However you choose to accomplish that is up to you-and okay with me. If you use doctors to provide healing, give them wisdom to know what to do. Regardless of how you accomplish it, the healing you give is always miraculous. And you deserve all the praise.

I absolutely believe you have the power to heal. You demonstrated that on earth, and you still heal in miraculous ways today. Even when my faith is weak, you say it is enough, and my love for you is strong. And I know you already hold my heart and life in your hands. It’s up to you. If I can bring you more glory through healing, then that’s what I ask for. That’s what I desire.

But if your answer is no, or not now, I know that your grace is sufficient for me. Ultimately, I want your will to be my will. I look forward to spending an eternity with you. But Lord, if you have planned still more for me to do here on this earth, I not only need and want your physical healing, Lord, but a thorough, deep-down cleansing and strengthening-a whole-hearted renewal of all that I am. Because all that I am is yours. Use this trial to strengthen me from a “what-if” faith to a “no-matter-what” faith. And no matter what, I choose to honor you and give you glory.

In Jesus’s name, Amen.” – Rebecca Barlow Jordan

In my own personal meditation practice, I use a reflective meditation for any health issues I may be facing. I find that, not only does it decrease stress in the body, but it gives my body permission to heal and sometimes that is all we have to do in order to rise above our health challenges. I wanted to share this technique with all of you, so I created a Reflective Meditation for Healing mp3 download that you can use on your phone, or music device of your choice and listen to it as many times as you need. Manifestation: Abundance, Prosperity & Wealth!

b50f6073-58c0-4db1-8f2e-7b1c42f754bc

“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.” Anne Bradstreet

Let’s face it we could all use some more abundance, prosperity and wealth in our lives. I know when I first started learning to manifest, I was so worried I would do it incorrectly and screw it all up, but the good news is, you really can’t do it wrong. Regardless of what method or tools you decide to use to manifest with, 99% of it is the intention behind it. So, unless you are asking for lack of abundance, prosperity or wealth, you’re good. Here are some of the things I like to work with when doing manifestation work:

Before you begin, make sure you have a clear picture of the outcome that you desire. Try writing it down as many times as necessary until you have it just right. Make sure you are clear and specific with your intention. Remember that is mostly your own magic that brings your manifested desires into reality.

First you may choose to set up a place in your home specifically for this purpose. It will help you better visualize your intentions; much like a 3D vision board. You may choose to decorate your altar with stones, crystals or even statues. A good statue for an altar for abundance, prosperity & wealth would be Lakshmi, the Hindu Goddess of exactly that. You can find a statue of her in many sizes, colors, etc. You can even frame a photo you love instead of using a statue. You can also use stones or herbs depending on your liking. This will help increase the energy vibrations of your manifestation. Citrine, Rose Quartz and Aventurine are all good choices for stones, especially for beginners. Other tools you can use are binaural beats for manifesting abundance. Song has great power in shifting energy. So, you can either listen to it while thinking of your intention, or perhaps listen to it while falling asleep at night.

A personal favorite of mine is the Rose of Jericho. I have to admit when I first came across it, I was unsure of how it would work. I made sure I followed the directions as explained in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5tXfQOPwYI by the shop owner from whom I purchased it. I used holy water in the bowl and, to try it, I used pennies and asked that each penny represented $100. Once the plant had opened into a full bloom I placed 13 pennies in it and then let the plant close back up and then reopen. Within a week, I received the $1,300 I had asked for from the manifestation exercise. So be prepared when you use the Rose of Jericho because wealth will find its way to you.

When you are doing any kind of manifestation work, besides a solid intention, you may find that you want to work with an affirmation while the Universe is bringing you your desires. You may want to include something such as “I am worthy of the abundance coming my way”, or “My income is constantly increasing,” these will allow you to stay true in your belief that your intention was heard by the Universe and the Divine is assisting you to reach your goals.

And finally, be sure to express gratitude not only when you receive it, but while it is still manifesting. Go in with the attitude that it is already done! Express gratitude every day for it as you never know the unexpected ways the Universe will provide it for you. Be realistic with it while practicing then after a while you can work your way up to becoming a millionaire!

You may find that when you try to live a life of abundance on a regular basis, the more abundance and prosperity will find its way to you. Even if you can add in one activity that can help you live an abundant life instead of a scarcity mindset, you will notice how your life will start to change. Below you will find a list of characteristic of living in abundance by having an abundance consciousness or living a in a scarcity mindset.

Abundance Consciousness

  • Accept responsibility for their failures.
  • Continuously learn.
  • Embrace change.
  • Exude joy.
  • Forgive others.
  • Give other people credit for their victories.
  • Have a sense of gratitude.
  • Keep a “to-be” list.
  • Keep a journal.
  • Operate from a transformational perspective.
  • Read every day. Talk about ideas.
  • Set goals and develop life plans.
  • Share information and data.
  • Want others to succeed.

Scarcity Mindset

  • Blame others for their failures.
  • Don’t know what they want to be.
  • Exude anger.
  • Fear change.
  • Fly by their seat of their pants.
  • Have a sense of entitlement.
  • Hold a grudge.
  • Horde information and data.
  • Never set goals.
  • Operate from a transactional perspective.
  • Say they keep a journal but really don’t.
  • Secretly hope others fail.
  • Take all the credit for their victories.
  • Talk about people.
  • Think they know it all.
  • Watch TV every day.

In the end, have fun with your manifestation work and do not be afraid to try new things and see how they work for you. Add in your own spiritual tools that you may already know and love. Make the manifestation work your own and that will make it even more powerful!

Your going through an Awakening: Now what?

8ebef193-024a-47c2-bfcf-ac2bd429ea8e“Divine desperateness is the beginning of spiritual awakening because it gives rise to the aspiration for God-realization” – Meher Baba

Over the past few years you may have heard the term “spiritual awakening” a lot as it seems to be a trendy topic and everyone seems to be having one. But, for those of us who have been through one and lived to tell the tale know it isn’t always rainbows and unicorns. So why do we actually have to have a Spiritual Awakening anyway? Here are some of the top reasons and ultimate desired outcomes from the process:

  • To discover your true inner self , the spiritual you, and to connect to this self through a increase in consciousness during the awareness process
  • To raise your consciousness to higher levels on a spiritual level
  • Learn to love and accept yourself and others fully
  • Discover any spiritual gifts or reawaken the ones that you closed off
  • Discover your purpose and life calling
  • Develop empathy and sensitivity for people, animals and nature
  • Learn to experience life in the moment and to the fullest

Through this process, it is very common to question everything in your life. Things that used to make you happy suddenly aren’t as appealing as they once were. This includes friends, work, habits etc. Many times people who begin to go through a spiritual awakening find that they stop drinking and smoking because they understand that, on a soul level, those behaviors no longer serve who they are anymore. Relationships may shift during this process. Also, you may no longer connect with people with whom you did in the past. At the same time, you may develop deeper connections with people whom you feel know the “real” you as you discover who that is. The number one thing I see with people starting their spiritual awakening is not being happy with their career anymore and wanting to make a drastic change, not for money, but to make their soul happy.

Finding out who you are is really the beginning of anything from relationships, career, family, health and the elements around you. By knowing yourself you can have a better understanding about your role in the world and how there is really no separation between you, the Divine and nature.

There are a few things to be aware of that I feel no one really talks about when you read about having a Spiritual Awakening. Many times to in order to really have change in your life, you may feel like your life completely falls apart, or it is just one thing after another that happens. You should know that the Universe is not trying to frustrate you or feel like you have been abandoned. Sometimes drastic measures have to happen for you to pay attention and really look at things and want to make room for how these changes will impact you for the better long term because more often than not we don’t seek change. It finds us and we must decide if we are going to step into it or be dragged into it. Another part of your life you may see impacted is, your health. Although I can talk with Spirit, I don’t always listen to their advice for me and there insight can tend to become background noise. I know it’s there but don’t always tune in. Well, when that happens and I am really supposed to hear the messages Spirit tends to get my attention by having something physical happen to make me stop in my tracks. Nothing will make you stop and slow down like an injury, illness or a health scare in general. I usually try to make a deal like “oh, I will do this if you can make this better” I warn you that only works a few times if you don’t keep your word. You may not always see how that issue relates to your awakening, but in the end the issues are always connected, whether it’s to love yourself, have more empathy for others, or to bring your purpose to light. The Divine will never do something “just because”. Everything happens for a reason. One day you will realize why it was necessary. Another thing to be aware of is that, while you are going through your spiritual awakening, you are going to want to make the world a better place. You will want to share your new knowledge with everyone especially friends or family that you feel may not be living in the best version of themselves just because you have seen the light. No one is going to want to hear that you feel they are doing something wrong anymore that you would like to hear it from them. Often, if you are really close to the person you can easily become consumed by wanting to help them. You want to make it easier for them than it was for you. But, here is the truth, are you ready… It’s not your problem and it’s not your place. Just like when someone has an addiction no one can change that about them unless they want to change it. Step back and say “Not my monkeys, not my circus”. It’s best to just be there for that person if they want to talk about it with you. You never know if talking with you is part of their own journey that will stimulate the change leading up to their spiritual awakening.

You may feel you have been going through the process of a spiritual awakening forever and maybe you have. It can take years and years to go through the process. Or, you don’t have many issues and it only takes you months. What I do know is that you usually do not go through this process by choice. You don’t wake up one day and say “I’m going to start my spiritual awakening today” because it is honestly one of the hardest things you will ever experience. The other thing is that it is very hard to stop the process once you have started it. Delaying the process will potentially only make it worse once it comes back around because it will and usually when it is inconvenient for you.
Now there are also some really amazing things that happen in this process that will empower  and ultimately change your life for the better.  This will probably include really loving and accepting who you are for the first timeprocess, .ifes one of the best…include really loving and accepting who you are for the first time. Not caring who knows whom i. Not caring who knows whom is one of the best gifts you can truly have in this life. So, when you feel defeated along the way, or wish you could stop the process, I urge you to power through it and make it to the other side and see what the Universe has in store for you.

Clearing your Space: Insight & Tips

Chris-Gramly2

Energetically, everything that every happens in our space leaves a residue of energy that can become imprinted in the space. Illness, doubt, arguments, negative emotions, trauma, grief and even everyday energetic junk that you pick up throughout the day can build up around the rooms of your space.  Smudging your space will help remove or shift that build-up in your space, creating a higher frequency of light and positive energy to flow throughout. Many people can find doing this overwhelming and don’t know where to start. You will want to clear your space at least once a year. But, I also recommended if you are going through a major life change such as beginning or ending a career, relationship, recovering from a long illness or injury, selling or moving into a new space or simply feeling stuck in general. It is important to know the limits of your ability when clearing space. Some spaces need someone who has had training in space clearing, particularly when dealing with harder energy such as illness, breakups or a death in the space. By smudging your space on a regular basis will also help prevent the harder energies from getting stuck or stagnate. Here are some basic tips if you practice smudging at home or want to start.

What will I need to get started?

  • Abalone Shell
  • Feather
  • Herb with which you want to smudge with (see list below for various types and meaning)

You will want to get an Abalone shell to catch any ash that may happen as you smudge so it doesn’t end up making a mess on your floors. Some of the items also may be hot and this will prevent you from directly holding the hot object.

The feather can be any kind of feather. The feather will help you spread the smoke throughout your space so you get it in ever place it is needed.

You can usually find a starter kit on places like Amazon or Ebay for a reasonable price if you are just getting started.

What is the best herb to use?

Most people think that white sage is the only thing you can smudge with hence the name saging a space. However, there are actually quite a variety of things you can use. Here is a small list of alternatives to white sage and what it is best used for.

Black Sage: Is a powerful protective herb and will help purify and clean the energy while also raising your consciousness towards higher realms.

Blue Sage: Also known as the “Grandmother Sage” has purifying properties and provides spiritual strength and can remove darker energy. The wonderful scent of Blue Sage can also leave a very relaxing and refreshing scent in your space.

Cedar Sage: Used for cleansing, clearing and blessing space.

Dakota Sage: Commonly used by Plains Indians. You can use Dakota Sage to help with illnesses such as headaches, coughs, stomach issues and more. It is also good if you live in any area with a high mosquito population and will keep them out of your space.

Desert Sage: Used to purify the mind, body and soul before prayer, ceremonies and rituals.

Palo Santo: Spiritual remedy for purifying, cleansing and getting rid of evil spirits, misfortune and calamity.

Sweet Grass: Helps attract positive energy, good spirits and helping people’s attitudes.

White Sage: Purifying energy, protection, and dispersing negativity.

Yerba Santa: A holy & sacred herb known for healing properties. Best to use if clearing illness from a space.

You may also find a variety of herbs or flowers mixed in with white sage such as lavender, rosemary, roses, etc. Each of these contain elements such as love, relaxation and healing and will only enhance the benefits of the clearing.

Where do I start?

To begin you will want to start by creating sacred space. Here is a simple prayer you can use http://thefourwinds.com/prayer-for-opening-sacred-space/

Next, once you have all your materials and decide what herb is the best for your space, you will want to take a lighter or a match and light the herb so it gets a nice smoke going and place it in the Abalone shell.

Then you will want to pick a starting point. I personally like to start with the front door, but if you are feeling that you are being guided to start at a certain point in your space, follow that feeling. You are being guided there for a reason.  The most important thing is from your starting point, you will want to move clockwise through your space and open a window to allow the old energy to leave.

While going through each room in your space, state your intentions for clearing. What you would like to clear and any prayer or blessings you would like to welcome into you space. In a professional clearing, the act of clearing the space and bringing in blessings may be done at separate times.

Feel free to also call in any angels to whom you feel connected. Archangel Michael is a great angel to call in for space clearing.

Once you go around your whole space and end up back at your start point, you will want to extinguish what you used to clear the space. I like to have a small bowl of sea salt, or himalayan salt that I use to stop it from smoking.

Be sure to thank any angels you called in and then you will want to close sacred space. To do this simply thank all the directions for being a part of your space clearing session. I also like to thank Mother Earth and the energy of the particular town in which I am clearing space.

What if I live or work in a space where I can’t have an open flame?

There are a few options you can use if for whatever reason you are not allowed to have an open flame or smoky items in your space. I love to work with smokeless sage products for those kinds of spaces or a quick fix to clear myself after dealing with yucky or hard energy. My two favorite products are the Sage and Peppermint Clearing and Blessing Spray and the Palo Santo Munay (Love) Blessing and Clearing Spray by Embody the Sacred. You can find out more information about those sprays or purchase them at http://embodythesacred.net/awesome_sprays.html

The other option you have available, is sound. Sound is a great option in any space and it helps break up stagnant energy and heal sick energy. You can use a singing bowl, tuning fork or bell. If you don’t have access to any of those items simply find a good YouTube video with those items and play them in your space. Questioning Faith as a Spiritual Being

f8ac41d5-5cab-4a93-8ea1-a8dd8dc3a52cGrowing up, I don’t remember how I originally learned about God, or what my faith was or meant to me. Let me take you on a quick journey with my relationship with my faith. As a young Catholic girl, my family would frequently visit church on Sunday morning’s for choir practice, CCD and Church. This continued for years until I made my first communion. Then, my parents gave me the choice of whether or not I wanted to continue to go to church after that. Being a young child I thought my Sunday’s would be better spent doing something else so I stopped going. I suppose from a very young age I felt that God was all around and that I could talk to him whenever I needed to without going to church. I believed that there was no distance between us. Even though I was thought God was too busy with more important things and I shouldn’t bother him with my problems. Despite not going to church, I continued to pray and have what I thought was a relationship with God.

Once I reached high school, one of my best friends was taking confirmation classes. So, I asked if I could join her for the classes knowing that someday I may want to marry in a church. I got my confirmation and that was that for at least another decade. At this point in my life I had finished college and was just about ready to graduate from grad school. One New Year’s Eve I went out with one of my friends who was very religious. In the wee hours of the New Year, we got to talking about a book she had read called “A Purpose Driven Life” by Rick Warren. She said something that always stuck with me. She said “God is your best friend and he wants to have that type of relationship with you” This perplexed me because even though I knew God was there, why would I bother him with my problems. But, what if I had been looking at this all wrong? What if I went into prayer and God already knew what I wanted to talk about, because God does, so what if I just laid it all on the line while talking to him. What if I started talking to God as if he was my best friend? How would that change who I was or what I was open to?

I was so moved by this book that I started giving it as gifts to other people in an effort to help them to discover their own relationship with God. Now, just so I am clear, not everything else in my life during this time was amazing. In fact, this enlightenment led to more questions as I struggled with death, health and purpose. I thought I had life all figured out and then, things went downhill. You know how people say we hurt the ones close to us when we get mad. Well, maybe we do this because we know they love us so even if we get mad and yell they will be there for us in the end. So, even if I got mad at God he would forgive me because he would see beyond the pain behind the anger. In 2012, a dear friend of mine committed suicide. In hindsight, the Universe was preparing me for this for a good two months before it happened. Then I started thinking I could have changed something for that person and made the outcome different. About the third day into my grief I was so mad that I couldn’t think straight I would walk someplace and not remember why or how I had gotten there. I was mad at the person who left me, but I wasn’t at a place where I was ready to talk to God about it yet because on some level he knew it was going to happen and knew all this pain it would cause the ones left to deal with it. Then in 2014 I got sick to point my body was just giving out on me. At this point I could hear and talk with Spirits and Angels. Yet, I felt like, spiritually, everyone had abandoned me and left me to struggle alone. I know that wasn’t the case and there was some lesson I was supposed to learn from it and change the course of my life. The process somehow made me more understanding of people who have experienced similar events. Then, just recently in December of 2015 I ended up back in the hospital with the same Autoimmune Disorder I had been struggling with for 17 years. I was hospitalized again in January and March of this year. It felt like an endless cycle that once again I had to face on my own spiritually. Anytime I tried to get insight on the situation for myself all I would get is that I needed all my energy to deal with the physical response my body was making me deal with.

I can’t tell you how many times I wondered why or what did I do to deserve this or go through it. Then, one day I was watching the “Belief” series on OWN Network and a young boy said it is part of our right of having faith to question it at times. “Faith is daring the soul to go beyond what the eye can see” We can’t see faith so instinctively there are going to be times when we question its validity because we don’t understand it. When we don’t get why someone dies, or someone we love gets sick or what the hell the journey is all about. Truth is, we may never know why but I can assure you of this, through everything God never stops being that best friend to us even if we don’t recognize him in that role. There is a reason and we don’t have to go through things alone. Your never know what someone else has been through unless you open up about it on some level. It’s all part of the growing process. I use to think that if I spoke about my challenges people would think less of me. Would putting my challenges out to the Universe by verbalizing them make them worse? But, as part of this growth process, I have realized the last five months, that having health issues, really challenging ones, doesn’t define who I am as a being. It is not the only thing that God knows me as or what I have to be to people.

The moral of the story is that you may have highs and lows in your faith just as in life. But, just because you have a strong faith or live a spiritual life doesn’t mean that you have to be in the high parts all the time. Even when you are in the lows know that someone else is there with you through family struggles, health issues, finances or just finding purpose in life someone is there with you. Sometimes it’s about extending that arm for them to know you are there too. We don’t have to keep our struggles to ourselves anymore. In fact when we do they only get worse. Within the struggle growth happens and after the growth our faith expands and our relationship with God gets more understood as its life progresses. It’s ok to feel certain ways and get mad. No matter how far we push, faith is like a gravitational pull that keeps us going even in the darkness. Just be you with God because he already knows anything you want to say. When we stop being fake with God we stop being fake with ourselves and that is really when healing happens and questions can be answered. We vary off course but that’s okay. It is all part of the course. So, don’t worry you are not alone! So if you are struggling with faith or any other issue reach out we can be stronger in it together than digging in the trenches alone.

Finding your Worthiness

13bd9af2-5432-48c9-b3ef-b6dd4f73fa0cThrough life we have so many situations we face. Some are good and some not so great. These situations can often impact how we think about ourselves and ultimately how worthy we feel for positive things that happen in our lives. We have all heard about self-sabotage and how during points of our lives we somewhat feel we deserved what we got, or do not deserve happiness in areas such as relationships, career, finances etc. You work hard all your life to get to a certain level you feel is successful. Yet, when we get there, you feel unworthy of the results for which you worked so hard. This can be really challenging to deal with because it can be a constant struggle of feeling inadequate. Many humans, when they think of worth, base it on the wrong criteria such as what others think or how much they are loved rather than themselves. We have all heard it, but take a moment and let it sink it… The only one who can determine how worthy you are and what you deserve in this life is YOU! You can have someone look at you every day and tell you how wonderful you are every day, but the only way you will actually hear and acknowledge it is if you become your own personal cheerleader and tell yourself you are worth it. Here are some things that can help you find and enhance your worthiness:

  1. When you wake up in the morning and getting ready for the day, look at yourself in the mirror and, no matter what you are facing, tell yourself you are worthy of love, happiness, health, success etc.
  2. At the end of each day before falling asleep state out loud something you feel proud about, either on the day or in the past.
  3. Learning to express gratitude is one of the most important things you can incorporate into your life. Not only will it help you learn to appreciate what you have in life and be grateful for it, it has shown many health benefits including overall happiness in life.
  4. Doing things for yourself does not make you selfish. In fact, it can rejuvenate you in ways that will allow you to be more beneficial not only to yourself but to others as well. Think about what you do during the week, how hard you push your body when you’re tired, or have a list of things left to do that others are depending on you to get done. Taking a moment or an hour just for you can definitely increase your feelings of worthiness because you think enough about yourself to recognize when you need time too.
  5. Learn to forgive yourself. Only then can you fully release the energy from your field that may be holding you back.
  6. Look at certain areas of your life and let go of anyone, thing, or situation causing you to feel less about yourself. If you have to, sing “let it go” (we all know words people and it will help you feel better).
  7. Whenever you find yourself in a situation where someone is speaking ill of you or providing excessive drama or bad energy, simple excuse yourself from the conversation. This will empower you and allow you to recognize your own self-worth.
  8. Take time to acknowledge your achievements and reward your successes. So often we set goals in life and then once we reach them we think it is not enough and we set another goal. We walk around trying to obtain unachievable expectations. When you stop to acknowledge your achievements you can actually feel worthy of what you have achieved and it will allow you to feel confident about other goals you set.
  9. Make daily affirmations to help you through moments of insecurities, anxiety and self-doubt. These can allow you to stay positive through difficult times and can help you shift your thinking.
  10. Help other people who need it and recognize and accept when you need help.
  11. The more truthful you live your life, the higher your own energetic vibration will become. So stop lying to others about things. Most importantly, take responsibility for your own actions and stop blaming others for anything bad that has happened in your life. Even if the bad thing was caused by someone else, you don’t have room to hold on to it anymore. It is not your cross to carry anymore. You have control over your attitude so walk in a truthful path.
  12. Start facing your fears! More dreams are crushed by fear than failure. Start paying attention to your thinking instead of “I could never”, or “I can”, and “who cares” and most importantly “what do I think”.

“When you think this pain is all you deserve, you are right. You are the only one that can decide how long you will walk in hell.”― Shannon L. Alder . You have a choice every day when you wake up. To be worthy of the life you deserve all you have to do is decide that you want it.

Your Personal Resurrection

90896158-eec4-4cba-a325-038391f1f65eHow many times have you felt defeated, and just wanted to give up on something? But, then something happens on a spiritual level that you can’t explain and makes you rise above. For some of us, it is faith that brings us through the challenges we face in life. We go through various lessons and blessings that bring us closer to our purpose and where we are supposed to be in life. I have often reflected through the years and felt like each time I was down or out for the count dealing with health issues, relationships, and life in general, there was a moment where I knew I would not only get through it but become a better and newer version of myself as a result. Much like a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly or a phoenix combusting into flames only to rise up from the ashes reborn, we turn into something we never thought possible. We are living in a time where things are different. It feels like every day there is different energy in the Universe, on Earth, and within us. We can feel the shifting and the changes. On some level we resist that change because change is scary. We don’t always know what is on the other side of change and the unknown is a fearful area for most of us because we are unsure how to handle the results of the change. Here is what I believe are the stages we go through during our personal resurrection process:

The Shift: This is the beginning phase, where certain things start happening in your life where you can feel the change start to come. Maybe you have faced health issues in the past and some of the symptoms are coming back, or you feel your relationship with someone you care about is different than it used to be, or you are unhappy at your job. This stage is going to determine the direction of your resurrection journey.

The Fear Battle: This is the really really hard part. This is the phase where you are literally at war with your inner self and sometimes your body. During this phase you can be filled with so much doubt and there will be times you will want to give up, because this is not what you signed up for. Thoughts like, will I ever get better, will this situation ever go in my favor, and will I have a healthy relationship with this person will all run through your mind. During this phase everything is dark and looks dark endlessly. There is no light at the end of the tunnel that you can see and you want to give into that fear because it seems easier that going through the darkness one more day. Trust me, if you can get through this, you can face anything that comes your way.

The Acceptance & Forgiveness: One day you wake up and it’s light again! The pain is gone or a health issue is better, and you can start to see things more clear and get a brighter picture of what is ahead. I remember years ago I dislocated a rib head from my sternum and every day for a year I would wake up nauseous and it would stay that way all day. I thought it would be that way forever and I didn’t know how I would handle it. I prayed about it and did whatever I could do to get it to stop and then one morning I woke up and it wasn’t there anymore. As quickly as our struggles come in to our lives they can leave just as quickly. Once that happens you have to spend time reflecting on what you just went through. Maybe it was months, or years that you were in the battle stage with something. It is important for you to take the time to accept what you went through and forgive others and yourself for things that were done or said or even things that you had no control over such as an illness. Our body needs forgiveness too. We must accept who we are, where we have been and challenges that we have overcame in order to not only heal from the situation, but look at life differently and learn something from it. Nothing we go through is without purpose. Sometimes recognizing that purpose is the light we were and are seeking.

The Loving Awakening: Did you know that every seven years the cells in our body rejuvenate and literally what makes up our body becomes new. During this final phase, you become new also. You have weathered the storm and made it through the other side. You have literally died in some way saying goodbye to an old version of you and resurrected into the newer, wiser version of yourself. You have come to love yourself for exactly who you are and embraced your flaws and come to understand that you do not have to hide who you are to others or make excuses for how God made you, because HE knew what HE was doing! You have found answers to questions like, what do I want to do the rest of my life, how am I going to get there and perhaps the biggest lesson is why did this happen? You will never be the same once you awaken into the more elevated consciousness version of yourself. The mind and the body are strong, you will have been pushed beyond what you thought you could handle and in the end you were victorious!

Once you have resurrected, you may find that while certain things have changed, some have remained the same. You may still have things to work on, and someday you may have to face the same challenges again. The important thing is that you know you overcame it once and you can do it again each time. You may also find that at the end of the particular journey you started during the shift it doesn’t look or feel how you thought it would. But, that doesn’t mean you are not exactly where you need to be and who you need to be for the new journey you have ahead of you. If you rise up each time, the Divine won’t let you fall.

“A bridge of silver wings stretches from the dead ashes of an unforgiving nightmare
to the jeweled vision of a life started anew.” ― Aberjhani

Winter Solstice: Yule Celebration of Lights

978d08b5-2f61-4463-bc16-1375a956f28aFor more than thousands of years the Winter Solstice, also known as Yule, has been a celebration of the rebirth of the Sun. Signifying light coming back to the Earth while beginning winter. The days start to stay lighter longer, and the new solar year begins. It is truly a magical time! On December 21st   2015, at 11:48pm EST the Northern Hemisphere will experience its winter solstice. The longest night if the year, it will bring balance to the Earth and then allow the light to shine. It is rich in traditions and lore. Did you know that most ancient stone circles are built around the sunrise of the winter solstice? The solstice is also symbolic of a time of hope and miracles because, even through the darkest times, we can rest assured that the light will come.  This is probably one of my favorite times of the year. Maybe it is because I am Capricorn, or maybe because I have witnessed and been a part of a real miracle that took place on the Winter Solstice in 2012 or perhaps because as humanity we draw our attention to things like charity, good will towards men and peace on Earth. Our spirits are lifted somehow and we draw together as a community and help others who are in need. We remember the things that are important and we cherish what we have in our lives. At the same time, whether we are conscious of it or not, we are reflective of the past year. We grieve the losses we experienced, and yet are hopeful for what is to come. Just like the sun comes back and rises, our own inner light resurrects inside of us with love, joy and faith. There are so many great traditions and celebrations that you can incorporate into your own space for this special evening. Here are a few of my favorites that you can do on your own or with friends, family or loved ones.

  • Growing up, our family called it a Buche de Noel, but it is also known as a Yule log, so for the Winter Solstice find a recipe that works for you and your family, and decorate it with whatever your heart desires, or traditional items such as powdered sugar as snow, and run a fork through the frosting to make it look like an actual tree log. Then enjoy it with your family or friends during the night of the Solstice.

  • Make a Yule wreath. Gather any items of your choice and bring the energy of Yule into your home for the entire holiday season. Set your intentions for the New Year while making the wreath, and pick decorations that may represent those wishes for you.  Then on the night of the Solstice hang your wreath, either on a door, or somewhere in your home.   Then, on New Year’s day, return your wreath to Nature , either by offering it to the woods, or if you have an outdoor fire pit, maybe you would like to have a fire ceremony and allow the Universe and Mother Earth to receive your intentions and set them in motion for you in the New Year. If you decide to make an offering in the woods, be sure to include the trees in your offering. Trees have very special energy and are a traditional part of the Winter Solstice.

  • Story telling by candle light, or fire. This tradition comes from many cultures, but one of the most popular for the Winter Solstice comes from Celtic traditions by sharing the story of the legend of the Holly King and the Oak King. You can also choose to share stories about the winter, or past events that you have experienced during previous Winter Solstice celebrations, or sing Yule songs. What is important is that you and the ones you love gather by the light and be together. When you do this, you raise your vibrations and connect with the energy of the Solstice. You can also incorporate sound in your evening. Ring bells at the exact moment of the Solstice. This symbolizes the cycles of nature and honors the four directions. It also symbolizes wish granting, so be sure to make your Winter Solstice Wish while ringing your bell.

  • Prayer is very powerful and, as I mentioned before, there is something about the Winter Solstice where it is like prayers are accelerated and miracles happen. Through the power of prayer I received my Winter Solstice gift from the Universe. So, a prayer circle or ceremony happens to be my favorite! You don’t need anything special for this, just a candle of your choice. You can do this privately, or in a group and make it your own. Sit by the light of the candle or fire and pray. If you are doing this in a group, sit around the flame in a circle and hold hands if you feel inclined to do so. Pray for anything you want, there are no limits on what you can pray for or how many prayers you say.  In fact, the bolder the prayer the bolder the Universe, God and the power of the Winter Solstice can respond to that prayer for you.  This year, an amazing healer and I will be having a Winter Solstice prayer circle at The Sacred Space in Concord NH. You can be a part of our prayer circle from anywhere in the world.  For the entire month of the December, leading up to the Winter Solstice, email me for free at contact@elysianld.com  with your prayers or wishes, and I will personally write them on a piece of paper and place them in the prayer offering bowl during our Winter Solstice prayer circle. Prayers are welcome from all over the world so no matter where you are you can be a part of the ceremony with us. If you happen to be celebrating the Summer Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere, and you need some prayers for anything at all, email us and you will be included.  There is so much going on in the world, let’s join together from everywhere and pray for health, love, peace on earth and anything that rests in our hearts that we may be in need of this special season.

No matter how you choose to celebrate the Winter Solstice or Yule, I hope you take a moment to welcome the sun back and welcome the light back into your life in any way you need. Have a joyous yule season, and may you also experience the power of prayer and the magic of the season. “I do believe we’re all connected. I do believe in positive energy. I do believe in the power of prayer. I do believe in putting good out into the world. And I believe in taking care of each other.” – Harvey Fierstein

Living a Life of Gratitude

6baac96a-c3b3-4bac-8991-93d428eefa90

What is the first thing you do as soon as you open your eyes each day? Do you start your day with something positive, or something negative? Each day we have the opportunity to start our day off in a positive way by expressing gratitude. Gratitude is really about expressing thankfulness for what we already have in our life. Living a life of Gratitude is something that you can teach yourself to include and, before you know it, you won’t even have to think about doing it anymore. You will just do it!

 Benefits of Gratitude include:

  • Improves sleep
  • Reduces anger and enhances Empathy
  • Creates higher self esteem
  • Improves both physical and emotional health overall
  • Creates better relationships
  • Opens you up to receiving positive energy exchanges
  • Creates a stronger connection with your faith
  • Allows you to change your perspective of the world around you

Living a life of Gratitude 21 Day Challenge:

A habit is formed in 21 days. So, why not form a positive habit to live a life of gratitude? You can do this in a group or individually. Participating in the challenge doesn’t require a special tools. The only requirement is a desire to make a positive difference in your life. Commit to the challenge, by just telling yourself you will do the best you can. Ideally, you would do something every day for the 21 days. But, if you miss a day here or there that is okay. As long as you are trying you are already succeeding in taking steps to live a life of gratitude.  Before starting the challenge, I want you to write a note to yourself that you will open on the 21st day of the challenge. You can write about what you hope to learn or become enlightened about on this 3 week journey. You can write what you would like to do as an expression of gratitude on the last day of the challenge, or a reminder of why you did the challenge, or the promise to continue to live a life of gratitude after the challenge. It can even be a thank you note to yourself for completing the challenge. The letter can include anything you want, it can be a sentence or a paragraph. Once you write it, seal it and place it somewhere safe and don’t open it until the last day of the challenge. Here are 21 ideas for how you can partake in this life changing challenge! You can do all of them, one of them or pick and choose the ones that work for the areas of your life. Remember the more you give of yourself to this journey the more you are going to get out of it at the end. What you do with it is up to you.

  • Keep a Gratitude Journal: For 21 days, keep track of all the things you are grateful for in your life. Then, at the end of the 21 days, review what you have written over the 3 weeks and watch how in that time you have received additional blessings in those areas.
  • Say thank you to a soldier
  • Express gratitude when a stranger does something nice for you like hold open a door, or allows you to go in front of them, then pass along that gratitude and do the same for a stranger.
  • Hold a 5 minutes or less gratitude session with yourself. By simply taking a few minutes a day to express your gratitude to yourself, God, Source, Universe, etc. you are keeping that positive exchange of energy increasing the overall wellbeing of your mind, body, spirt.
  • Create a Gratitude affirmation for something you are struggling with, and for 21 days recite the affirmation daily, and whenever you may be thinking about the problem.
  • Post only positive articles, photos, messages etc. on your social media for 21 days.
  • Say a Gratitude prayer daily. There are both really good religious and non-religious prayers available on the internet. The key is to pick the one that resonates with you the most. You can even just pray and praise God, Universe or Source for what is in your life.
  • Express thanks to the people in your life who make a positive impact.
  • Express Gratitude for something that didn’t go your way, only for you to realize that you had something better in store for you.
  • Pick a different topic for each day and express to yourself and others something you are grateful for regarding that topic. For example, health, wisdom, friendship, family, your spiritual path, etc.
  • Struggling Financially? Why not use the 21 days to create a more grateful attitude towards our finances. Instead of saying, how am I going to pay this, say “Universe/ God, thank you for providing this…”
  • Heard of Vision Board? Why not make a Gratitude Board! Take a poster board and place images of everything you are grateful for and look at it every day for 21days to remind you of all the wonderful things you have in your life.
  • Does music inspire you to have a grateful attitude? Make a playlist with your favorite tunes to listen to throughout the day to keep your mind and soul thankful.
  • Looking to create a better relationship with food? Expressing gratitude for the nutritious food you have access to before each meal will help you reinforce making healthy food choices to fuel your body and not feed your emotions.
  • If you are in a relationship, do the challenge together with your partner and, each day, share something about why you are grateful for the other person. Find unique ways to share the experience with your partner, through thank you cards, sticky notes, a note on a napkin they will see later in the day. Be creative and have fun with this one and watch how at the end of the challenge your relationship is that much stronger and you are able to express gratitude more easily with each other in a language you can both understand. You can also do this particular exercise with your children as well and engage them in process of expressing gratefulness.
  • Passing the gratefulness at dinner: If you would like to do a family event, have everyone before dinner go around the table, and express what they are grateful for that day.
  • Create a routine of when you first walk up in the morning, before your feet hit the ground, say thank you for the day you are about to have. Then, at the end of the night, while you are getting back in bed, express your thanks again for your day. Here is what I like to say in the morning, “ Thank you God for today, thank you for anointing me with health and allowing me to live today  the way you intend for my purpose.” Then at night, I simple restate “ Thank you God for today” then I continue with any evening prayers or things that happened during the day that I am grateful for.
  • Each day our body works hard for us. Yet, how often do we take time to thank it for all it does and not just except it to do what we need it to do. We often don’t realize we take it for granted until we get sick or it stops working at its optimum state. Spend time over the 21 days to thank your body for all it does for you and make a commitment to learn to listen to it better to create a stronger relationship with it so you can continue to be grateful for it far beyond the challenge.
  • Read a book about gratitude and look for ways that you can incorporate the methods you learn into truly living a life of gratitude. There are many books available online about gratitude. Go with your intuition with which one is the one you need.
  • Practice gratitude breathing during yoga, pilates, meditation or any other spiritual or physical exercise you may do. Here is a great article about gratitude breathing: http://wildaboutwork.com/improve-your-life-with-gratitude-breathing/
  • Make a gratitude jar. Have someone really special in your life? Why not write down 21 reasons why you love about them, why you are grateful for them, how amazing they are, and any words of encouragement and place it in a jar and give it to them. This will allow them to pull a small note of gratitude anytime they may need an emotional pick me up. These make great birthday, holiday and “just because” gifts!

There are many other ways that you can incorporate gratitude into your life. Get your friends and family involved in your challenge and watch the abundance overflow in your life, really placing perspective on what matters most in your life. As we enter into the month of November, we all tend to become more aware of what we are thankful for as the holidays approach. That is why we will be running our challenge November 5th 2015 through November 25th, 2015.  You can start your 21 day challenge at any time. But, if you would like to participate along with us and our online community and receive encouraging inspiration along the way you can join our event at https://www.facebook.com/events/1069999319700228/ . With our event ending the day before Thanksgiving, the most popular day in the United States to give thanks, why not truly know what it is like to experience gratitude and see how your life can change in the most amazing ways and make it a day of Gratitude all around the world. “Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.” Eckhart Tolle

Stay Inspired,
